Blackhawks drop close call
The Welland Junior Canadians broke their seven-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Thorold Blackhawks in a Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, Golden Horseshoe Conference game Sunday at the Welland Arena.
Anthony Grigg, Noah Bollert, Matt Hobbs and Noah Blakely scored for Welland.
Mason Howard, Brendan Charlton and Trent Sheldon replied for the Hawks, who had a brief two-game winning streak halted.
The Hawks, who went 0-6 with the man advantage, are home to Fort Erie Thursday at 7:07 p.m.
Avalanche 9 Panthers 2
James Graydon had three goals as the visiting Ancaster Avalanche topped the Pelham Panthers Sunday afternoon.
Liam Van Loon added two goals and two assists and singles went to Noah Romeo, Matthew Bridgewater, Benjamin Woodhouse and Derek Raposo.
Matt Ruigrok and Brendan Bouvier scored for the Panthers.
Corvairs 8 Meteors 1
Andrew Burns had two goals, Sean O’Brien, Eddie Schulz, Bobby Harrison, Jesse Barwell, Owen Lane and Joshua DeFarias one to lead Caledonia to a home win over Fort Erie.
Daniel Nardi replied for the Meteors.

The Ancaster Avalanche put an end to the Niagara Falls Canucks eight-game winning streak at Morgan Firestone Arena.
Brad Lindsey and Luke Croucher scored for the Avs.
Former St. Catharines Falcon Noah Boman scored his second goal in as many games for Niagara Falls.
Meteors 3 Panthers 2
Andrew Somerville’s power-play goal in the third period broke a 2-2 tie and gave Fort Erie the victory over the visiting Panthers.
Mike Masotti added Fort Erie’s other two goals.
Tyler Kennedy and Thomas Young scored for Pelham.
