Hawks ground Meteors
The Thorold Blackhawks inched closer to the .500 mark with a 5-1 win over the Fort Erie Meteors in a Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, Golden Horseshoe Conference game Thursday night at Thorold Arena.
The Hawks improved to 6-7-1 with the victory.
The Meteors dropped to 3-10.
Thorold led 2-1 after one period and 3-1 after two.
Trent Sheldon, Trevor Neumann, Mitch Britton, Brendan Charlton and Matt Maidens scored for Thorold.
Kevin Weaver-Vitale replied for the Meteors.
Thorold out-shot Fort Erie 44-19.
Anthony Tremonte earned the win in goal.
The Hawks are in Fort Erie Saturday.
