Area sport: Collegiate fundraising; Thorold Blackhawks; Fairview bowling
St. Catharines Collegiate has started a campaign to raise $100,000 for a fitness and wellness centre for the St. Catharines high school.
“We want to provide the best, most comprehensive space possible for students and faculty which means a space with opportunities for everyone: yoga, weights, cardio machines, abdominal mats, and meditative spaces,” said Lori White, a Collegiate teacher spearheading the fundraising campaign. “We believe this space will connect staff and students and remind students that they matter.
“The new fitness and wellness centre will provide students and staff with a place to develop their physical literacy and create healthy bodies and minds, resulting in improved self-worth, self-efficacy, and a healthier community.
