Junior B recap: Falcons win, Canucks stay undefeated
The St. Catharines Falcons got back on the winning track with an 8-3 triumph over the Welland Junior Canadians in a Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, Golden Horseshoe Conference game at Jack Gatecliff Arena.
St. Catharines led 2-1 after one period before exploding for seven goals in the final 40 minutes.
Jacob Roach and Jaleel Adams each had two goals for the Falcons while singles came off the sticks of Carson Edwardson, Dakota Miskolczi, Tanner Main and Jack Venneri.
Alex Page, Chase Johnson and Martin Nowysz replied for Welland.
Jack McGovern made 20 saves in net for the win.
The Falcons, 2-3, are at Lockport Wednesday and home to Fort Erie next Friday.
Canucks 5 Panthers 4
The Niagara Falls Canucks edged the visiting Pelham Panthers 5-4 in a battle of undefeated teams Friday at the Gale Centre.
The Canucks, 6-0, built a 5-2 lead until the Panthers rallied with goals in the second and third periods by Chris Webber.
Adam Scholz and Noah Caperchione also scored for the Panthers, who fell to 5-1.
Pelham hosts Fort Erie Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Justin Kyle had two for the Canucks while David D’Agostino, Mitch Mendonca and Justin Randhawa round out the scoring.
The Canucks are in Welland Sunday and Thorold Thursday.
