PORT RUNNERS MOVE ON
The Port Colborne High School midget boys cross country team qualified for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations finals Saturday at Christie Lake Conservation Area in Dundas after placing third at the Southern Ontario Secondary Schools Association championships.
“I have been very fortunate to have such a strong and dedicated group of runners come out for the team this year. Every race they have achieved better results than the last and I expect nothing less as we go into our final race of the season,” head coach Scott Vanderlee said. “The OFSAA championship is a major achievement for our program, as we have been working hard to develop the mindset of excellence here at Port High and OFSAA is definitely a step in the right direction.”
Mike Smith, the OFSAA championship Convener, said the course is going to be flatter than they’re used to.
“The race ends with a slight hill with 300 metres to go. So when you’re kicking for home, be sure to save a little extra for that final incline.”
Members of the team are Connor Pelletier, Evan Olm, Dylan Coers, Matthew Richardson, Preston Fraser and Owen Lamarsh.
