Nov. 5 Niagara College report: Tia Stys honoured

A pair basketball players were named winners of the Niagara College athlete of the week awards.
Earning top female honours was Holy Cross alumnus Tia Stys.
In a 65-49 loss to Mohawk, Stys drained a career high 22 points on an 11-23 performance from the field and also grabbed 10 rebounds to record a double-double.
Also contributing for Niagara (1-3) against Mohawk were: Hannah Baker, nine points and nine rebounds; Sierra Stefan, six points and six boards; and, Sophia Al-Kayed, four points and seven rebounds.
Leading the way for Niagara in a 73-28 loss to Humber — a game Niagara trailed 28-25 at the half — were: Bridget Atkinson, eight points and four rebounds; Baker, eight points and three steals; and, Stys, nine rebounds.
Niagara hosts the University of Toronto Mississauga Thursday at 6 p.m.
LIVINGSTON TOP ATHLETE I PRESUME
Nassau, Bahamas native Livingston Bromwell was named Niagara’s College’s male athlete of the week.
The Ridley College alumnus recorded his third double-figure scoring game of the season in a 105-90 victory over the Mohawk Mountaineers. Bromwell had 18 points, seven rebounds and two assists in only 19 minutes of floor time.
The electrical techniques student added seven points and three rebounds in a 94-81 loss to the third-ranked Humber Hawks.
Also contributing for fifth-ranked Niagara (3-1) in the win over Mohawk were: Alex Elliott, 18 points; Jordon McDonald, 17 points and seven boards; Kevin Cooper, 14 points and 16 rebounds; Johnnie Richardson, 14 points; Keveshan Padachey, 11 points; and, Van Hutchinson Jr., 11 points and eight rebounds.
Performing well for Niagara in the loss to Humber were: Hutchinson Jr., 23 points and 12 rebounds; Padachey, 12 points; Richardson, 10 points; Cooper, nine points and eight boards; and, McDonald, seven points and 10 rebounds.
Niagara hosts University of Toronto Mississauga Thursday at 8 p.m. Admission is free for all students and $5 for all other spectators.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Niagara’s men’s volleyball team fell to 0-3 on the season following a 3-1 (23-25, 19-25, 25-22, 23-25) loss at Mohawk.
Top performers for Niagara were: Jaydon Milne, 12 points; Tristan Swinden and Elijah Bugiardini, nine points; and, Ben Fillmore, 28 assists.
Niagara’s third set was its most complete set of the season, according to head coach Tommy Sloan.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Niagara’s women’s team lost 3-0 (17-25, 19-25, 15-25) to Mohawk and now sits in sixth place in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association West Division with a 1-2 record.
Leading the way for Niagara were: Jordan Koslowski, seven points; and, Montanna Taylor of St. Catharines with 19 assists.
