Weekend hockey roundup: IceDogs win again; Junior B results

The Niagara IceDogs wrapped up the first half of the Ontario Hockey League season with a convincing 6-2 win over the visiting Oshawa Generals Saturday night.
The IceDogs improved to 20-7-5-1 with the victory and sit atop the Central Division with 45 points, one ahead of the Sudbury Wolves.
Captain Ben Jones paced the IceDogs with a hat-trick to give him 16 on the season while Philip Tomasino continued his strong play with two goals and three assists. Matthew Philip added a goal and assist.
Stephen Dhillon made 32 saves in net for Niagara.
The IceDogs are off until Friday, Dec. 28 when they visit Ottawa. Their next home game is New Year’s Eve at 6 p.m. versus the 67’s.
JUNIOR B
Falcons 9 Junior Canadians 2
The St. Catharines Falcons moved to within three points of first place with a 9-2 win at Welland Sunday in Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, Golden Horseshoe Conference action.
The Falcons, 22-3-0-2, have picked up at least one point in 23 consecutive games.
Andrew Somerville and rookie Ethan Sims collected two goals each while Christian Girhiny added a goal and four assists and now has 20 goals and 47 points in just 16 games since joining the Falcons from the Erie Otters. Jake Orr, Mike Masotti, Jacob Roach and Noah Blakely added singles.
Matthew Maidens and Jarrett Olbruck replied for the Junior Canadians, who dropped to 8-19-0-2.
Jack McGovern made 30 saves in goal for the Falcons.
Kilty B’s 3 Panthers 0
Marco Costantini kicked out 30 shots to pace the Hamilton Kilty B’s past the Pelham Panthers Sunday in Pelham.
The win improves Hamilton’s record to 19-9-0-1.
The Panthers dropped to 16-11-0-2.
Anthony Pinelli, Holden Rogers and Jordan Stock scored for Hamilton.
Junior Canadians 4 Meteors 3 OT
Maidens’ second goal of the game in overtime gave the visiting Junior Canadians a win at Fort Erie Saturday.
Olbruck and Jacob Thomason also scored for Welland.
Brady Lee, Evan Miller and Luca Mazzo replied for the Meteors, who fell to 8-18-0-3.
Ethan Cook kicked out 49 shots in a losing effort for Fort Erie.
