OFSAA track and field results
Sir Winston Churchill’s Eric Campbell won two gold medals at the OFSAA track and field championships.
Sir Winston Churchill’s Eric Campbell highlighted a strong showing by Niagara athletes at this past weekend’s Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations’ track and field meet at the University of Guelph.
The Grade 10 student at Sir Winston Churchill won gold in the junior boys 800 metres and 1,500 metres, bettering the silver medals he won in both events competing as a midget boy in 2018.
The reigning OFSAA junior boys cross country champion recorded a time of 1:55.16 in the 800 metres and 4:03.61 in the 1,500 metres.
St. Catharines Collegiate’s Cassie Kemp won a gold medal in the girls intellectual 800 metres in a time of 2:39.79 and a bronze in the 100 metres.
The only other gold medalist from Niagara was Blessed Trinity’s Paige Nevestuk in the girls 200-metre wheelchair in a time of 1:05.37.
Winning silver medals were: E.L. Crossley’s Kate Knafelc in the open girls 2,000-metre steeplechase; Centennial’s Tommy Leavens in the junior boys shot put; Beamsville’s Shannon Swinson in the girls intellectual 800 metres; and, Port Colborne’s Deanna Donnelly in the girls para shot put.
Capturing bronze medals were: Centennial’s Sierra Skotniski in the junior girls shot put; Governor Simcoe’s Kanice McLean in the girls 200-metre wheelchair; DSBN Academy’s Daniel Swayze in the midget boys discus; Centennial’s Alexis Wright in the midget girls discus; and, A.N. Myer’s Maya Fetic in the senior girls pole vault.
