Babb-Harrison back with River Lions
The Niagara River Lions continue to build their roster for the 2022 Canadian Elite Basketball League season.
On Tuesday, the team announced that it has re-signed Canadian Jaylen-Babb Harrison for his second season with the squad.
Last season, the 6-foot-4 guard from Ajax averaged 13.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game for the River Lions.
Niagara head coach and co-general manager Victor Raso is thrilled to have Jaylen return to the team. He has high expectations for him this summer.
“Jaylen’s game took a big leap forward last season and we think he’s still scratching the surface of how good he can become,” Raso said. “It was a top priority of ours to re-sign Jaylen to continue his growth as a player, but also to ensure continuity with our core Canadian players.”
The former NCAA Division 1 scholarship player at Eastern Kentucky University is glad to be back with the River Lions.
“The Niagara River Lions are a great team and a top tier organization in the CEBL,” he said. “I’m motivated and excited to complete for a championship that we were one game away from last season. This upcoming season will be special.”
Babb-Harrison has spent the majority of his pro career playing in Canada. Prior to joining the River Lions, the 28-year-old had stops with the London Lightning of the National Basketball League of Canada and CEBL’s Hamilton Honey Badgers.
He is the third player signed by Niagara this season joining import Tidjan Keita and fellow Canadian Daniel Waldin-Mullings.
Training camp for the team will open May 15. The River Lions, who went 10-4 in the 2021 regular season and advanced to the championship game, open the 2022 season May 25 on the road in Saskatchewan. Their home opener will be June 3 at the Meridian Centre against the expansion Montreal Alliance.
