Brookelyn Keltos, shown in this file shot while playing for Sir Winston Churchill, scored a team-high 19 points as the Niagara Juel girls basketball lost 74-66 to the Scarborough Lady Blues.
The Niagara Juel girls basketball team saw its regular season record go to 4-2 after winning one of three games last weekend.
Niagara defeated Kingston Impact 66-52 and lost 74-66 to Scarborough Lady Blues and 81-74 to Durham City Chameleons.
Leading the way for Niagara against Kingston were: Sarah Hurley (E.L. Crossley), 14 points; Hannah Bourdon (GFESS), 13 points and nine boards; Yemi Oladipo (Churchill), 11 points; Bianca Sestili (Denis Morris), eight points; and, Brookelyn Keltos (Churchill), seven points.
Niagara outscored Kingston 38-23 in the second half to erase a small halftime deficit.
Top performers for Niagara against Scarborough were: Keltos, 19 points; Hurley, 10 points; Oladipo, nine points; Bourdon, seven points; and, Jamie Addy (Governor Simcoe), six points.
The back-and-forth game featured 10 lead changes and eight ties.
Playing well for Niagara against the Chameleons were: Bourdon, 19 points and eight rebounds; Keltos, 12 points; Alexis Wright (Centennial), nine points and 10 rebounds; Hurley, nine points and five rebounds; and, Emma Hemphill (Holy Cross), five points.
Niagara built quarter leads of 18-13, 34-29 and 51-49 before Durham rallied for the win in the final quarter. Niagara had two players foul out of the game and four other players finished with four fouls. A total of 63 fouls were called on both teams, including 35 on Niagara.
Niagara will be right back at it this weekend and it will be hosting this time around. Niagara will play Oakville Vytis Saturday at 11:30 a.m.. on Court 1 at the Pelham Community Centre and then the Brampton Warriors on the same court at 8:30 p.m. All the games will be held in Pelham with the exception of one which will be played at Ridley College on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

The Niagara Juel Prep opened league play last weekend with three hard-fought losses.
Niagara fell 78-66 to the Ottawa Elite, 87-54 to the Durham City Chameleons and 62-51 to the Simcoe Muskoka Royals.
Top Niagara performers against Ottawa were: Isabella Brenzil (E.L. Crossley), 24 points; Jenna Saddler (A.N. Myer), 14 points; Aleesah Adams (Notre Dame), eight points; Jenna Sandel, (Lakeshore Catholic) seven points and eight rebounds; and, Maya Kolbinson (Port Colborne), six points.
Niagara outscored Ottawa 37-36 in the second half but was unable to rebound from a 13-point halftime deficit.
Leading the way for Niagara against Durham City were: Ashlynn Caverly (Eden), 11 points; Sandel, 11 points and eight boards; Brenzil, eight points and 10 rebounds; Kolbinson, six points and six boards; and, Maia Walker (A.N. Myer), six points.
Durham City built quarter leads of 21-12, 46-23 and 63-39 to record the victory.
Playing well for Niagara against Simcoe Muskoka were: Brenzil, 19 points and 10 rebounds; Sandel, 16 points and 17 rebounds; and, Shorleigh Burrows (Richmond Street Public School), seven points.
The Niagara Juel team will also be hosting league games this weekend. Niagara will play the Niagara Girls Basketball Academy at 9:30 a.m. Saturday on Court 1 at the Pelham Community Centre, Oakville Vytis at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Ridley College, the Mississauga Monarchs on Court 2 at 8:30 a.m. Sunday and the Brampton Warriors on Court 2 Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
