March 26-27 Niagara Juel and Juel prep report
The Niagara Juel girls basketball team pushed its league record to 8-3 by going a perfect 3-0 in games last weekend in Windsor.
Niagara beat Hamilton Transway 55-50, Oakville Vytis 65-43 and Windsor St. Clair 64-54.
Leading the way for Niagara against Transway were: Brookelyn Keltos (Sir Winston Churchill), 23 points; Alexis Wright (Centennial), 10 points and five rebounds; Yemi Oladipo (Sir Winston Churchill), eight points and 14 rebounds; and, Hannah Bourdon (Greater Fort Erie), seven points.
Top Niagara performers against Oakville were: Bourdon, 12 points and five rebounds; Wright, 11 points and eight boards; Bianca Sestili (Denis Morris), 11 points; Keltos, nine points; and, Oladipo, eight points and nine rebounds.
Performing well for Niagara against Windsor St. Clair were: Bourdon, 17 points; Keltos, 10 points; Oladipo, nine points and seven rebounds; and, Sestili and Wright, eight points each.
Next action for the team is April 9 in Hamilton.
JUEL PREP GOES 1-3
The Niagara Juel Prep team went 1-2 in league action last weekend in Windsor.
Niagara lost 74-58 to Blessed Sacrament and 68-41 to Oakville Vytis before defeating the Tri-County Soldiers 59-49 for its first victory of the season.
“We witnessed the growth of our team this weekend,” Niagara Juel Prep coach Kristy-Anne Wytenburg said. “It’s finally starting to piece together. We defended better, we handled pressure better and we were patient for our desired shot. The growth this team has endured is only the beginning and I’m excited to see where we can get to.”
Leading the way for Niagara Prep against Blessed Sacrament were: Isabella Brenzil (E.L. Crossley), 19 points and 11 boards; Maia Walker (A.N. Myer), eight points; Jenna Sandel, (Lakeshore Catholic) seven points and eight rebounds; Maya Kolbinson (Port Colborne), seven points; and, Aleesah Adams (Notre Dame), six points.
Performing well for Niagara against Oakville Vytis were: Cadence Seredine (Port Colborne), 12 points; Brenzil, 10 points and five boards; and, Keira Teske (Governor Simcoe), five points.
Top performers for Niagara against Tri-City were: Brenzil, 20 points and 11 boards; Kolbinson, 10 points; Jenna Saddler (A.N. Myer), eight points; Walker, seven points; and, Seredine, five points.
