Niagara IceDogs general manager Darren DeDobbelaer continues to wheel and deal.
Just 48 hours after dealing three draft picks to the Sarnia Sting for forward Nolan Dann, DeDobbelaer switched gears and this time dealt two players to the Mississauga Steelheads for four picks.
Defenceman Isaac Enright and forward Ryan Struthers are headed to the Steelheads in exchange for a 2024 third-round pick (Saginaw), a 2026 third-round round pick (Mississauga), a 2025 12th-round round pick (Mississauga) and a 2026 15th-round pick (Mississauga).
“These are always difficult decisions when you’re moving not only two great players but two very good young men,” DeDobbelaer said. “The opportunity seemed to benefit both teams as well as both players. Issac and Ryan will certainly be missed in Niagara.”
Enright was selected by the IceDogs in the first round of the 2019 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection with the 17th pick. In 113 games played with the IceDogs, the defenceman notched 29 points.
Struthers was drafted by the IceDogs in the fifth round in 2020 and tallied 13 points last year in his first season.
