IceDogs cook up another trade

The Niagara IceDogs continue to make deals at an astounding rate.
Less than 24 hours after acquiring Port Colborne natives Andrew and Jacob LeBlanc from the Kitchener Rangers for four draft choices, the club has dealt forward Brice Cooke to the Mississauga Steelheads for three picks.
The IceDogs will receive Mississuaga’s second-round draft pick in 2026, their fourth-round draft pick in 2023 and Saginaw’s fifth-round draft pick in 2025.
Since taking over the team, owner/general manager Darren DeDobbelaer has made 17 trades.
Cooke, a native of Orangeville, was selected by the IceDogs in the second round of the 2020 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection with the 33rd overall pick. Due to league stoppage in 2020, last season marked his rookie year. The left-winger notched 18 goals and 10 assists for 28 points in 64 games.
The IceDogs, who dropped their season opener Thursday 4-3 in overtime to Mississauga, are in Flint Saturday and Saginaw Sunday.
