The Niagara IceDogs losing streak reached five games with an ugly 11-3 loss at home to the Windsor Spitfires in Ontario Hockey League action Friday.
The IceDogs, 3-6-3, last won Oct. 15 versus Flint.
The Spitfires improved to 8-0-3.
The IceDogs and Spitfires split four goals in the first period before Windsor netted four goals in the second and then added five more in the third.
“I don’t know what to say about tonight,” Niagara coach Daniel Fitzgerald said. “We played a great first period outside of a couple poor decisions that led to their goals. We got away from our structure in the second and it bit us. The third was plain bad. We are better than that in all facets. We will bounce back, but it will take a commitment from everyone to do so.”
Former IceDogs goaltender Joey Costanzo got the start for the Spitfires and turned back 29 shots for the win.
Josh Rosenzweig permitted six goals on 17 shots before giving way to Owen Flores who gave up five goals on 13 shots.
Ice cubes: Anthony Agostinelli, Andrew Wycisk and Rodwin Dionicio were scratched for the IceDogs.
Niagara’s Jacob LeBlanc and Windsor’s Michael Renwick.
