IceDogs drop sixth straight

The Niagara IceDogs were dominated for the second straight game as they dropped a 9-3 decision at North Bay in Ontario Hockey League play Thursday night.
The IceDogs, who lost 11-3 at home to the Windsor Spitfires last week, have dropped six straight and are 3-7-3 after splitting their first four games of the season.
IceDogs head coach Daniel Fitzgerald didn’t pull any punches after the game.
“We need to demand more of ourselves,” Fitzgerald said. “There’s no excuse. We need to stop compounding our mistakes. Mistakes happen, but the mistake after the mistake needs to stop. If we keep the game simple for ourselves, we will have success.
“We expect a much better effort with better execution tomorrow night.”
North Bay jumped out to a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes and then upped their lead to 7-1 after two.
Pasquale Zito had all three goals for the IceDogs to give him six on the season.
Jacob Therrien and Nikita Tarasevich paced the Battalion with two goals each while Anthony Romani and Matvey Petrov added a goal and two assists apiece. Dalyn Wakley, Owen Van Steensel and Kyle McDonald rounded out the scoring.
Dom DiVincentiis made 31 saves for the win.
Josh Rosenzweig permitted six goals on 32 shots for Niagara while Owen Flores gave up three goals on 11 shots.
The IceDogs are in Sudbury Friday and Sault Ste. Marie Saturday as the complete the first week of two-week, five-game road trip.
