Niagara Juel Prep has impressive weekend
Last weekend was a breakthrough one for the Niagara Juel Prep girls basketball team.
Niagara defeated Hamilton Transway 68-66 and the Durham City Chameleons 63-62 to record a perfect weekend.
“This weekend was huge for our team but also for our program. Knocking off Hamilton Transway and Durham City Chameleons, who have a history of powerhouse programs, is an incredible achievement,” Niagara Juel head coach Kristy-Anne Wytenburg said. “I’m very proud, especially of our Niagara Juel Prep veterans, Olivia (Bittman), Keira (Teske) and Shorleigh (Burrows). They have individually taken huge strides in their development since the beginning of their rookie season.”
Wytenburg was thrilled with her team’s play.
“We have tasted winning, we were defensively sound and our offence finally clicked in full tilt,” she said. “It was a weekend to celebrate but we’re quickly shifting to what’s next and how we are going to handle our next opponent.”
