Niagara Regional Flag Football crowns champions
Niagara Regional Flag Football finished its first season of its new partnership with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in exciting fashion last weekend by hosting their championship games at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton.
“It was a great season with 500 kids playing flag football between our Niagara Falls and Grimsby locations,” said the association’s flag football director Brandy Ireland-Keus. “Holding our city championships and regional championships at Tim Hortons Field was a great way to end an exciting season.”
The CFL football club feels it is only the beginning of a great relationship with Niagara Regional Flag Football.
“We are looking forward to growing what we have here with the Ti-Cats and making sure all kids, regardless of their skill level, have a place to play,” said Courtney Stephen, Hamilton’s director of community partnerships. “The Ti-Cats were thrilled to see the growth of NRFF during the spring flag football season.”
Hamilton loves the partnership.
“Any time we can support football at the grassroots level, we’re happy to,” Stephen said. “Hats off to all the volunteer coaches and administrators that came together to make this a memorable season for everyone involved.”
Niagara Regional Flag Football’s fall season registration opened Monday. The season will run from mid August to the end of October and games will be played Saturday mornings in St Catharines at Kiwanis Field. Players are invited to pick their team, pick their coach and have some fun playing flag football.
