IceDogs deal Waddick
The Niagara IceDogs have dealt their top goal scorer from last season on the eve of training camp.
The IceDogs Thursday traded forward Declan Waddick, who led the team with 28 goals, to the Owen Sound Attack for forward Gavin Bryan and a third-round selection in 2027.
Waddick, 18, was the IceDogs 39th selection overall in the 2021 Ontario Hockey League draft.
Bryant, who is one year older than Waddick at 19, comes to the IceDogs after playing two seasons with Owen Sound where he tallied 64 points in 93 regular season games, including 26 points in 30 games last season.
Bryant, who was named an assistant captain last year for the Attack, is a native of Ingersoll, who was drafted 37th overall in 2020 by the Attack after spending his minor hockey career with the Brantford 99ers.
“Niagara is pleased to welcome Gavin Bryant to the IceDogs family. Gavin brings a high level of maturity and leadership to our organization. He is a complete hockey player who will have a tremendous impact on our organization on and off the ice.” IceDogs interim general manager Wes Consorti said.
