JUEL/JUEL Prep rosters announced
Following tryouts in August, the Pelham Panthers Basketball Association recently released the names of the players selected for its Niagara JUEL and JUEL Prep teams.
Named to the JUEL team, coached by Si Khounviseth are: Alyah Pereira from Westdale; Brianna Davis from Blessed Trinity; Annika Rigby, Shorleigh Burrows and Anna Deliyannis from Eden; Ava Froese from Smithville Christian; Jessica Sager and Grace MacDonald from St. John Henry Newman; Alena Tepsic from Saltfleet; Emma Vendittelli from A.N. Myer; Keira Teske from Governor Simcoe; Amelia Siolkowsky from E.L. Crossley; Hannah Braye from Westlane; and, Lauren Smith from St. Jean de Brébeuf.
“I am excited about getting back into the gym and working with the players and coaches,” Khounviseth said. “We have a lot work ahead of us to get ready for the season. We have a lot of new players and we are new as coaches so it will be a learning curve for all.”
He likes his roster and feels there is a solid core.
“We will be a hard-working team and we will get better as the season progresses. We have some talented players and at tryouts I was very impressed with their effort and desire to compete. We will be a defensive team first and will generate our offence from how hard we defend.”
Selected to the JUEL Prep roster, coached by Chris Moscato, are: Diana Kastenka from Bishop Ryan; Maria DiFlavio, Teagan Fraser, Jaylen Stienstra and Avery Whaling from Blessed Trinity; Camilla Moscato and Ava Briggs from Notre Dame; Kate Kolbinson from Port Colborne; Lyla Rodrigue from Centennial; Talia Hultink from Smithvillle Christian; Addison Torigian from Sir Winston Churchill; and, Maude Law from E. L. Crossley.
“I am excited about our team. The talent is solid and the team spirit is already lit up,” Chris Moscato said. “The coaching staff is looking forward to running a fast-paced game with high quality, coachable athletes representing Niagara.”
