Falcons finish strong to top Kilty B’s
The St. Catharines Falcons broke open a close game with three goals in the third period to defeat the Hamilton Kilty B’s 5-2 in Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League action Thursday night in Hamilton.
Following a scoreless opening period, Henry Attard and Dallys Hibbert scored for the Falcons in the second period while Brady Wassink and Brett Henderson replied for the Kilty B’s.
St. Catharines then put the game away in the final 20 minutes on two goals from Treyson Dewar and one from Tyler Hunt.
“Nice to get a good road win to start our three in four this weekend,” Falcons general manager/coach Tyler Bielby said. “Thought we had a couple lapses that cost us in the second period, but for the most part stuck to our game plan and broke away in the third period.
“It was a team effort for the win. We will enjoy it for a couple hours and turn our focus to Fort Erie. They are playing good hockey and we will have to be ready to go.”
Bielby said some of the more inexperienced Falcons came through with big games.
“Was proud of the way our younger guys played tonight,” he said. “Dewar and Hibbs both put the puck away and thought Noah Read played with a lot of pace. Beautiful pass by Matt Hlacar to Hunt for the game-winner.”
Hayden Jeffery made 21 saves in net for the win.
The Falcons, 9-1-0-1, host the Meteors Friday at 7 p.m. before travelling to Pelham Sunday for a 2:45 p.m. face off.
