Owen Flores came up with another solid effort in goal to lead the Niagara IceDogs to a 5-3 win at Erie in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday afternoon.
Flores turned back 35 shots as the IceDogs won their second game of the season to improve to 2-4-3.
Niagara rookie Ryan Roobroeck netted his second of the season to open the scoring early in the first period off a nice feed from Mike Levin before former IceDogs forward Pano Fimis would even the game up late in the period.
The Otters gabbed a 2-1 lead in the second on a power-play goal by Ondrej Molnar, but the IceDogs responded with goals from Kevin He (3) and Zak Lavoie (3) to take a 3-2 lead heading into the final period.
Mike Levin would add to the IceDogs lead with his third of the season halfway through the third before the Otters drew to within one when Martin Misiak scored with 1:23 remaining. Lavoie would ice the game with an empty-net goal to make it 5-3 with 1:02 left to play.
The IceDogs went scoreless in two opportunities with the man advantage while the Otters had two power-play goals in five chances.
The IceDogs are back in action Friday as the defending OHL champion Peterborough Petes visit the Meridian Centre for the first time this season.
