Local medal haul at AO indoor championships
Local athletes had an impressive showing at the Athletics Ontario U16 and U20 Track and Field Championships held at the Toronto Track and Field Centre.
More than 1,100 athletes took part in event, including members from five Niagara clubs.
Bringing home gold medals were: Thorold Elite’s Journey Coulson in the U20 women’s long jump; Thorold Elite’s Tommy Dallman in the U20 men’s weight throw; Runners’ Edge Marco DiFelice in the U20 men’s 1500 and 3000 metres; Athletics Niagara’s Kristina Etezadi in the U20 women’s 1500 metres; Thorold Elite’s Jared Friesen in the U16 boys shot put; Thorold Elite’s Amairah Gayle in the U16 girls high jump; Thorold Elite’s TJ Woods in the U16 boys 1200 metres and 2000 metres; Thorold Elite’s Tyrique Woodside in the U16 boys long jump; and, Thorold Elite’s U16 boys sprint medley relay A team made up of Tyrique Woodside, Evan Wilson, Evan Blake and TJ Woods.
Earning silver medals were: Thorold Elite’s Elijah Bayne in the U20 men’s 1500 metres; Thorold Elite’s Evan Blake in the U16 boys 60-metre hurdles; Athletics Niagara’s Kristina Etezadi in the U20 women’s 800 metres; Athletics Niagara’s Josee Regala in the U16 girls 60-metre hurdles; Thorold Elite’s U16 girls sprint medley relay team made up of Tola Adewumi, Sophia Tzvetkov, Amara Van Grieken and Adele Kushner; and, Thorold Elite’s U16 boys sprint medley relay B team made up of Alan Tirop, Jase Theodore, Chase Larsen and Deagen Hallett.
Mining bronze medals were: Thorold Elite’s Elijah Bayne in the U20 men’s 3000 metres; Thorold Elite’s Cam Jackson in the U16 boys 60-metre hurdles; and, Athletics Niagara’s Josee Regala in the U16 girls high jump and long jump.
