OFSAA Ultimate silver for Bulldogs
The Sir Winston Churchill Ultimate Frisbee squad returned from the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations Festival in Lakefield with its second silver medal in the past three years.
“Another Ultimate season has come to an end and Frank (Keltos) and I could not be more proud of the amazing group of kids who had the opportunity to represent Sir Winston Churchill at the OFSSA championship,” co-coach Tammy Short said.
The Southern Ontario Secondary Schools Association champions, who entered OFSAA with a season’s record of 28-1, played three round-robin games and finished second in their pool. That meant playing a fourth game on the first day and the Bulldogs won a crossover challenge game to earn their spot in the championship side.
“On the second day, we played a team from Marksville in the quarter-final and advanced to the semis against Havergal/Crestview. After defeating them, we were off to the finals against a very talented team from Bowmanville. Our string of victories would come to an end with the Bulldogs earning a silver medal and finishing the season at 36-3,” Short said.
Members of the team were Erica Boles, Maila Bond, Sarah Chapman, Billy Condos, Jared Cook, Dawson Dermatas, Allegra Duncan, Nicholas Gilby, Mekhi Gondoza, David Greene, Samantha Greene, Jaden Hoff, Norah Hoff, Andrew Hurrle, Cole Lewis, James Lindsay, Ray Lindsay, Madden Miller, Sawyer Neufeld, Mya Pupek, Cameron Robillard, Ryan Robillard, Keira Scott, Shannen Short, Kate Smyth and Addison Torigian.
