
Niagara Juel Prep improves to 8-1

The Niagara Juel Prep girls basketball team improved to 8-1 in league play in weekend action shortened to one game because of inclement weather.
Niagara was tied 32-32 with the Ottawa Capitals at halftime before outscoring their opponents 38-20 in the second half to record a 70-52 victory.
“The girls played well and picked up our offensive rhythm in the second half,” head coach Chris Moscato said. “I’m proud of their effort and the teamwork displayed on and off the bench.”
Top performers for Niagara were: Camilla Moscato (Notre Dame) with 19 points and 12 rebounds; Kate Kolbinson (Port Colborne) with 16 points and 11 rebounds; Talia Hultink (Smithville Christian) with 11 points and six rebounds; Teagan Fraser (Blessed Trinity) with seven points; and, Lyla Rodrique (Centennial) with four points and six rebounds.
Niagara’s Juel and Juel Academy teams did not play last weekend.
All three teams will be in action March 1-2 in North York.
