All-star boys basketball teams announced
Centennial’s Reese Radobenko drives to the net in a game versus Governor Simcoe. Radobenko is one of 40 players named to the Zone 3 and 4 all-star teams.
The rosters have been unveiled for the Niagara Region High School Boys All-Star Basketball Games on Wednesday, April 17 at Governor Simcoe.
The Top 20 game will be played at 6:30 p.m. and the Top 10 game is scheduled for 8 p.m.
“The all-star games are meant to recognize those young men that had exceptional basketball seasons, from both school boards in Zones 3 and 4, whether they played for a smaller or more populated high school,” organizing committee member Shaun Feor said.
Named to the Zone 4 Top 10 team were: Sam Braithwaite, Igor M’Baya and Quinton Duemo from St. Francis; Darren Johnston, Mason MacEachern and Max Grant from Governor Simcoe; Noah Honsberger and Zubeer Liban from Denis Morris; Lucas Cino from Blessed Trinity; and, Colten Spencer from Thorold.

Myer; Reese Radobenko and Nick Yioldassis from Centennial; Jason Carter from E.L. Crossley; Jacob Labonte from Jean Vanier; and David Jones from Notre Dame, who is injured and unable to play.

Crossley; Austin Ladouceur and Micah Stewart from Greater Fort Erie; Neil Mahraj from Stamford Collegiate; Jake Marshall from Westlane; Neil Wangler, Rock Benjamins and David Lai from Niagara Christian.
Coaches submit names of the top three players from their respective teams and a panel of coaches from both boards and zones review the names and select a Top 10 team and a Top 20 team. The panel tries to ensure all schools are represented.
“The Top 10 game is more of a traditional all star game, with the highest level of talent,” Feor said. “The top 20 game highlights players from all schools.”
St. Catharines CYO Basketball has donated the shirts that the boys will be wearing for the games.
Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students and all proceeds will be going to Gillian’s Place.
