All-Star soccer showcase rosters announced
Sixty-five of the top high school soccer players in the region will put their talents on display Monday at the Eighth Annual Niagara Regional Soccer Showcase hosted by Niagara College Athletics and Recreation and Men’s and Women’s Varsity Soccer program.
The games will be held indoors at Youngs Sportsplex with the boys game beginning at 6 p.m. followed by the girls game at 8 p.m.
The game was started in 2014 at the suggestion of Niagara men’s assistant coach Rino Berardi.
“Over the last seven years, the game has truly grown into a prestigious event and a showcase of the best high school soccer players in Niagara,” Berardi said.
Men’s head coach Frank DeChellis said the school takes the event seriously.
“The planning for this event starts in January. Without collaboration with partners within Niagara College, the local media and Youngs Sportsplex, the task would be too big to manage.
“It’s a great way for us to recognize the local high schools and soccer community for being such important partners of Niagara College.”
