ELGADI INKS DEAL
Former Brock basketball player Dani Elgadi has signed a contract with German club, SC Rasta Vechta.
The league Elgadi will be playing in, the Basketball Bundesliga, is the highest level of pro hoops in Germany.
“He’s a big part of my career of as a coach,” former Brock head coach Charles Kissi said. “I’m so happy to see him achieve one of his many goals.”
Elgadi averaged 17.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game in five seasons with Brock.
PANTHERS BLANK HAMILTON
The Pelham Panthers kicked off the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League regular season with a 2-0 win over the Hamilton Kilty B’s Monday at Mountain Arena.
Following a scoreless opening period, Jared Hill potted the season’s first goal late in the second. Zach Thompson then added an insurance marker for the Panthers in the third.
Brandon McCorriston made 28 saves for the shutout.
Regular season action continues in the Golden Horseshoe Conference Wednesday when the Kilty B’s visit Lockport and Thursday when the Thorold Blackhawks play host to the Regals. Friday, the Niagara Falls Canucks are at the St. Catharines Falcons.
RIVERHAWKS OPEN WEDNESDAY
Following a five-game exhibition schedule that saw the Niagara RiverHawks go 1-2-1-1, the team will open up the 2018-19 season on Wednesday, Sept. 12 when they host the Hamilton Huskies Jr Blues at 7:30 p.m. at the Gale Centre.
The team plays in the Bloomfield Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League.
Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for seniors and students.
