The St. Catharines Falcons held their annual awards night and banquet on the weekend and honoured the last two years of award winners. The 2019/20 banquet was not held due to the COVID pandemic.

MYER BASEBALL STARTS 3-0
The reigning OFSSA silver medalist A.N. Myer boys baseball team opened its season with three straight victories.
Myer beat Westlane 17-0 behind Zach Whalen’s four-inning no hitter. He faced 15 batters, did not give up a hit, walked one and struck out 10. Tim Somerville scored three times as did Jase Burdon. Somerville also picked up two hits and a RBI as did Eric Issepon.
In a 15-0 victory over Fort Erie: Andrew Behring gave up one hit and faced just 13 batters, one over the minimum for his four innings pitched, and struck out 10; Somerville led the offence with two hits, two walks, two RBIs and three runs scored; Issepon had a booming double, two RBIs and two runs scored; and, Zach Whalen, Jack Shannon, Colby Webb and Behring each scored twice.
In a 10-0 shutout of E.L. Crossley: Burdon pitched three innings, striking out nine and allowing one hit while going 3-3 at the dish with two runs and three RBIs; Issepon closed by striking out two of the three batters he faced; Colby Webb had two hits and three RBIs; and, Keenan Bateman had two hits and scored twice.
ATHLETICS TIED FOR THIRD
The St. Catharines Athletics junior B lacrosse team (4-4) moved into third place in the Ontario Lacrosse Association Western Conference with a 14-5 win Sunday over the visiting Point Edward Pacers.
Leading scorers for the Athletics were: Justin Porga (4-0-4), Christian Lefeuvre (3-5-8), Jack Parker (2-1-3), Jaden Patterson (1-3-4), Trent Mooradian (1-2-3), Lucas Briscall (1-1-2), Levi Roest (1-0-1) and Teison McGregor (1-0-1)
Oliver Vanyo made 29 saves to pick up the win in goal.
The B’s host the London Blue Devils Tuesday at 9 p.m. at Canada Games Park.
