Bulldogs edge IceDogs
The Niagara IceDogs dropped a 6-4 decision to the Hamilton Bulldogs in Ontario Hockey League action Friday night in Hamilton.
It is the third straight loss for Niagara to Hamilton this season following back-to-back 4-0 losses earlier this month.
Each team scored once in the first period before the Bulldogs netted three in the second and two more in the third.
“We had a good start,” IceDogs coach Billy Burke said. “We were able to take an early lead, we fell behind and then took the lead back in the second, tied it up again in the third.”
Burke had no issues with the work ethic.
“Definitely no quit in the guys but some ill-timed penalties killed our flow,” he said. “(Tucker) Tynan played great, faced over 50 shots, which is obviously way too many.
“We need to play a little tighter and battle a little harder in our own end and can’t be taking careless penalties.”
Mark Duarte netted two goals for the winners while Avery Hayes, Logan Morrison, Lawson Sherk and Chandler Romeo added singles.
Danil Gushchin had two for the IceDogs, Pano Fimas and Jake Uberti one each.
The IceDogs are back in action Saturday at home versus Peterborough.
