Confederation’s athletic award winners
Gisélle Rugigana was named Confederation’s senior athlete of the year at the Welland high school’s recent athletic awards banquet.
Laveena Lavoie was named the school’s junior athlete of the year.
Other major award winners included: Jade Bergeron, Bruno Couloigner: Leadership et Hability; Olivia Cyr, academic and athletic excellence; Maia Lockey, rookie of the year; Nicolas Lessard and Valérie Lessard, spirit awards; and, Taeya Carl, contribution to athletics.
Winning team MVP awards were: Taeya Carl, swimming; Laveena Lavoie, junior volleyball; Gisélle Rugigana, senior volleyball; Jade Bergeron, soccer; Gisélle Rugigana and Sophie Pilote, tennis; Gisélle Rugigana, badminton; and, Amine Kelbaz, junior volleyball.
This is the last year for the name Confederation. As of September, when the school community moves into a new school, it will be known as the Franco-Niagara Lions.
