Consolation semifinals set at Trib tourney

Led by 23 points from Mitch McPherson, the Governor Simcoe Redcoats advanced to the consolation semifinals of the 65th Annual Welland Tribune Basketball Tournament with a 67-49 victory Thursday over the Lakeshore Catholic Gators.
Also scoring for the Gators were Redcoats player of the game Max Grant (12), Andrew Scott (11), Deryk Burke (9), Ethan Thompson (6), Hayden Zeppetella (3) and Matteo Martin (3).
Lakeshore’s Thomas Cryer netted 18 points to earn the player of the game award for the Gators. Also recording points were Samuel Beifuss (11), Krish Marc-Michel (10), Izaak Gagnon (4), Andrew Scott (4) and Evan Jacob (2).
BLUE BEARS 38 LYNX 25
Aidan Hawkins netted 11 points Thursday to help the Port Colborne Blue Bears defeat the Jean Vanier Lynx 38-25 in the consolation quarter-finals of the Tribune tourney.
Also scoring for Port were Jack La Marsh (7), Matt Richardson (4), Caleb Grover (4), Connor McLeod (3), Colton Weaver (3), Owen La Marsh (2), Jake Bruno (3) and Dylan Culp (1).
Recording points for the Lynx were Gregoire Belanger (7), Maxime Leduc (5), Cameron Laprise (4), Brock Morden (3), Bryce Drennan (3), Evan Bartok (2) and Eric Porter (1).
BULLDOGS 61 REDS 55
Player of the game Alexien Evseyev and Yaseen Ali netted 18 points each Thursday helping the Sir Winston Churchill Bulldogs advance to the Tribune consolation semifinals with a 61-55 edging of the Denis Morris Reds.
Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Connor Johnston (8), Nate Butler (6), Devontae Edwards (5), Nick Beaudoin (4) and Barin Alp (2).
Denis Morris player of the game Noah Honsberger led his team with 17 points.
Other Reds to hit the scoresheet were Michael Conlon (10), Dylan Maltby (10), Thomas Davidson (6), Thomas Duplessis (5), Anthony Caruso (3), Amari Allen (2) and Benji Kasamba (2).
MUSTANGS 62 RAIDERS 48
Fifteen points by Jomer Mateo Thursday helped the Saint Michael Mustangs advance to the Tribune consolation semifinals with a 62-48 victory over the Holy Cross Raiders.
Also scoring for Saint Michael were Ben Lockhart (11), Davis Alex (10), Cody Madden (8), Will Markas (6), Josh Duncombe (6), Adrian Pasternak (2) and Dami Laraiyetan (2).
Hitting the scoresheet for the Raiders were Reuben Eshuis (18), Sebastian Ayala (11), Sam Trivieri (8), Bruce Deluca (5), Matt Ryan (3), Josiah Galdones (2) and Arnold Aperocho (1)
