Cougars rally for championship

The Welland Centennial Cougars captured the championship at The 40th Annual Niagara Falls Review Basketball Tournament in dramatic fashion.
The Cougars rallied from a 22-4 deficit after one quarter to defeat the Saint Paul Patriots 66-59 in overtime in the championship final.
The Pats led 31-19 at the half and 40-35 after three quarters. The game was tied 55-55 after regulation.
Reece Radobenko of the Cougars was named tournament most valuable player.
Tournament all-stars were: Dusan Krkljus (St. Mike’s), Victor Kariuki and Richard Werner (St. Paul), Kennan Larmand and Nick Yioldassis (Centennial).

The Cougars held off a late rally to edge the A.N. Myer Marauders by 10 points and advance to the championship final.

Austin Ladouceur was named player of the game as the Greater Fort Erie Gryphons defeated the Westlane Spartans to capture the consolation title.
The Gryphons also won the consolation title at The Standard Tournament and lost in the consolation final at The Tribune Tournament.
