ONTARIO ERGOMETER CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Ontario Ergometer Championships will be held March 2 at Ridley College.
The event runs from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., starting with the junior high school rowers in the morning, masters during mid-day, senior high school rowers in the afternoon and open events at the end.

BRAMPTON CUP BOXING RESULTS
Two members of the St. Catharines Amateur Boxing Club won gold medals at the Brampton Cup.
Chris Hughes, competing in the 52-kilogram Cadet C novice division, defeated Matt Munarolo of Steeltown 3-0 to win gold and Kyle McCready won the senior novice 64-kilogram division in a walkover.

Brett Merker lost to Borna Youdanzi in the senior novice 91+-kilogram division.
Eddie Caracas, competing in the senior novice 60-kilogram event, lost 2-1 to eventual tournament winner Youseff E of the Top Glove BC.
Shanon Roy, participating in the senior female 57-kilogram novice division, lost 2-1 to Nadeza Kovaleva of the Siberia BC.
Competing in the senior open 69-kilogram division, Jake Isenor defeated Marlon Pacheco of the Huf BC when the referee stopped the contest in the second round. He then lost in the final to Adrian Halford of Atlas BC when he got thumbed in the eye and couldn’t continue.
James Hughes, fighting in the 69-kilogram senior open event, lost to Adrian Halford of the Atlas BC by unanimous decision.
Fighting in the 75-kilogram senior open division, Renne Chavez lost to Aaron Christian of Nova Scotia by unanimous decision.
Keegan Lown, fighting in the 75-kilogram senior novice division, defeated Stefano Dasilvio of the Whip BC. Lown was injured so he couldn’t box in the finals and had to settle for a silver medal.
Stephen Ryan, competing in the 64-kilogram senior open division, defeated Sheldon Wilcox of the Steeltown BC before losing 3-0 to national team member and Commonwealth Games silver medalist Thomas Blumenfled.
Matt Ryan, competing in the 60-kilogram cadet C open event, defeated Patrick Martin of the Top Glove BC before losing 2-1 to Jacob Blais in the final.
JUEL PREP VICTORIOUS
The Niagara JUEL Prep girls basketball team opened league play with an 87-56 victory over the Kingston Impact.
“With all players hitting the scoresheet, the team worked hard for 40 minutes to give itself a 31-point lead as the clock ticked to an end,” coach Sue Sentance said. “The team was firing on all cylinders, scoring a total of 87 points, of which 21 came from beyond the arc and another 22 from the free-throw line.”
Top scorers were Madalyn Weinert (18), Allison Addy (15), Bianca Sestili (12) and Thea Lawson (11). Leading rebounders were Vienna Vercesi (13) and Weinert (9).
