Friday night junior hockey roundup: IceDogs lose; Junior B results

The Niagara IceDogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead but ended up dropping a 4-2 decision to the Mississauga Steelheads in Ontario Hockey League action Friday in Mississauga.
Philip Tomasino gave Niagara a 1-0 lead with his third goal of the year late in the first period.
Liam Hamm upped the IceDogs lead to 2-0 with his first goal of the season early in the second before the Steelheads answered with two goals by Owen Tippett to tie the score at 2-2 after two.
Cole Carter and Michael Little then scored for Mississauga a minute apart early in the third.
Jacob Ingham turned back 37 saves in goal for the win and was named the game’s first star.
Stephen Dhillon made 28 saves in net for Niagara.
The IceDogs, 10-5-2, are home to North Bay Friday.
JUNIOR B
Falcons 6 Hawks 3
Christian Girhiny was at it again for the St. Catharines Falcons.
The former Erie Otter fired three goals to lead the Falcons past the visiting Thorold Blackhawks 6-3 in a Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, Golden Horseshoe Conference game Friday at Jack Gatecliff Arena.
Girhiny, who also picked up an assist, now has eight goals and 10 points in four games since joining St. Catharines last week.
Jacob Roach added two goals and Carson Edwardson one for the Falcons, who improved to 11-3-0-1.
Brendan Charlton, Bailey Stumpo and Sam VanderZalm had the Thorold goals.
Panthers 3 Canucks 1
The Pelham Panthers handed the Niagara Falls Canucks only their second loss of the season with a victory at the Gale Centre.
Thomas Young had two goals and Chris Webber one for the Panthers, who improved to 11-6-0-1.
Patrick McCabe replied for Niagara Falls.
