GOJHL 2021/22 schedule released
The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) is back in business.
After 561 days since the last meaningful game played on March 12, 2020, the GOJHL will return to action Friday, Sept. 24 with seven games slated for opening night. The 625-game schedule will see all 25 GOJHL clubs play a 50-game season.
In the Golden Horseshoe Conference opening night, the Caledonia Corvairs visit the St. Catharines Falcons, the Thorold Blackhawks travel to Niagara Falls to play the Canucks while the Hamilton Kilty B’s are at Pelham.
The Fort Erie Meteors open at home Saturday, Sept. 25 versus the Falcons while the Panthers visit the Junior Canadians Sunday, Sept. 26 for Welland’s opener.
The Blackhawks have moved their home nights to Mondays at 7 p.m. at the Thorold Arena.
The Buffalo Regals resigned from their participation in the GOJHL, while the Siskins, rebranded as Kitchener-Waterloo (KW), get their season underway in Caledon, where the Bombers have moved north from Brampton. Relocated to Ayr, the former Kitchener Dutchmen, will see their first GOJHL action as the Centennials on Sunday, Sept. 26 as they visit Elmira. The Centennials will then make their home debut on Thursday, Sept. 30 versus Listowel.
The KW Siskins will host the GOJHL’s Top Prospects/Future Stars event at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex in late December.
The GOJHL Showcase will return to the Meridian Community Centre in Pelham in 2022, from Friday, Jan. 21 to Sunday, Jan. 23. Each club will play two games in front of OHL, U SPORTS, NCAA and NHL scouts.
The 2021-22 regular season will conclude on Sunday, March 13th with the top eight clubs from each conference advancing to the post-season.
Playoffs are slated to begin Wednesday, March 16, 2022.
