Golden Horseshoe wraps up regular season

The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League’s regular season came to an end this weekend with five Golden Horseshoe Conference games that had no impact on the final standings.
Sunday, the Niagara Falls Canucks topped the St. Catharines Falcons 5-2, the Caledonia Corvairs edged the Pelham Panthers 4-1 and the Welland Junior Canadians got by the Thorold Blackhawks 5-2.
Saturday, the Hamilton Kilty B’s defeated the Fort Erie Meteors 5-2 while the Caledonia Corvairs edged the Thorold Blackhawks 2-1.
The Falcons completed the regular season in first place overall in the GOJHL with a 38-6-6 record and .820 winning percentage, one point up on the Hamilton Kilty B’s who placed second with a 38-7-5 record.
Playoffs begin this week with four best-of-seven quarter-final series.
The Falcons take on the Pelham Panthers beginning Wednesday in Pelham while the Meteors square off versus the Canucks with Game 1 Wednesday in Fort Erie.
The Blackhawks visit the Corvairs Wednesday to begin their series while the Kilty B’s host the Welland Junior Canadians in the other series.
A complete playoff schedule will be posted as it becomes available.

Canucks 5 Falcons 2
The Canucks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period.
Sam Ostafin, Nate McFarlane, Wolf Giles, Cameron Robillard and Jake McKinstray scored for Niagara Falls.
Chris Reid netted both goals for the Falcons.
Mihailo Corovic earned the win with 28 saves.
Stephen Toltl made 28 saves in goal for St. Catharines.
Corvairs 4 Panthers 1
Calvin Crombie scored twice for the winning Corvairs.
Nathan Duplessis and Connor Doerbecker also netted goals for Caledonia.
Damon Radley scored for Pelham.
Former Panther Keegan Jackson made 30 saves for the win.
Andrew Welch faced 47 shots in goal for Pelham.
Junior Canadians 5 Blackhawks 2
Gabriel Chiarot had two goals as the Welland Junior Canadians defeated the visiting Blackhawks.
Cody Inness, Brock Houser and Anthony Dicarmine also scored.
Brendan Grenville and Nathan Kelly replied for the Hawks.
SATURDAY
Kilty B’s 5 Meteors 3
Dawson McKinney had two goals and an assist as the visiting Hamilton Kilty B’s topped the Meteors.
Matthew Downie, Noah Vandenbrink and Matthew Duarte added singles.
Marcus Regina, Brad Ditillio and Josh DeFrancesco replied for the Mets.
David Egorov made 34 saves for the win while Nolan Lane made 20 saves for the Mets.
Corvairs 2 Hawks 1
Jackson made 29 saves as the Corvairs edged the visiting Blackhawks in a penalty-filled game that saw 98 minutes in penalties (60/38 Caledonia) called.
Zachary Naherne and Noah Baltzer scored for the Corvairs before the game was three minutes old.
Grenville replied for the Hawks.
Christian Lynch made 37 saves for Thorold.
