Help support BPSN
BPSN is open for business!
It’s hard to believe but it has been almost six months since the launch of bpsportsniagara.com.
We began our grand adventure in the fall of 2017 with the idea of being the most comprehensive web site for local sports across Niagara. Anyone visiting our site would have to agree that it has been mission accomplished. The scope of our coverage is something that hasn’t been seen in Niagara in a long time. We are averaging more than 20 local stories each week. We are especially proud of our high school sports coverage. BPSN has written almost 150 stories on high school sports since our inception and almost every week, they have been the most-read articles that we have produced.
So far, the reaction of readers and those who we have had the privilege of covering has been overwhelming.
We are averaging more than 10,000 page views and 20,000-25,000 clicks a week on our stories. Each week we are reaching new readers at almost a 50 per cent clip.
We are grateful and appreciative beyond our wildest dreams.
We knew there was a thirst for coverage of local sports and the reaction of the readers has confirmed that and then some.
We have been able to cover everything from the Niagara IceDogs and Niagara River Lions, to Brock sports, to junior B hockey and high school athletics.
It has been great to be back out in the community doing what we do best: Highlighting and writing about the best teams and athletes this area has to offer.
When we began last fall, our intention was to establish ourselves as a legitimate news gathering organization over the course of a few months as kind of a trial period.
Now comes the next phase of our business plan, working to make the site financially viable so we can continue to bring you the best of what Niagara has to offer.
We are in the midst of developing our advertising and sponsorship packages and will soon begin seeking out businesses and organizations to help us in that area.
We are also asking our readers to support us financially should they chose to do so. At least two independent, locally-owned news outlets in Niagara have launched voluntary subscription drives. One is asking for $40 a year and the other $30 a year.
On the right side of our web site, you will notice a yellow SUPPORT US button. The button must be accessed from a lap top or a computer. It does not work on mobile devices.
We are asking anyone who finds value in our work and is able to financially help us to click on the button and contribute whatever amount you feel is appropriate and can afford. There is no set amount. Any amount is appreciated.
The funds collected will be used to enhance and offset the expenses of running the web site.
We truly believe in this project and would love nothing more than to continue to be the best source in Niagara for local sports coverage.
Your interest and financial support are greatly appreciated.
