High school soccer all-stars announced
The rosters for the Sixth Annual Niagara College Soccer Showcase were released Friday.
The event will be held Tuesday June 11 at Youngs Sports Complex in Welland. The girls game will be played at 6 p.m. and the boys game is scheduled for 8 p.m.
More than 80 of the area’s best high school soccer players, representing 22 Niagara high schools, will come together to showcase the high level of talent that exists in the local soccer ranks.
Each high school was invited to submit players for the event and the players were split evenly into two rosters. Most valuable players will be selected from each team at the end of the match.
Notable alumni of the NC Soccer Showcase are Quinton Leone, Marc Andre Boucher, James D’Annunzio, Fiore Costa, Mike Dagg, Kimbel Donyare, Jake Therrien, Tyler Stranges, Alex Latham, Frankie Scerbo, Oti Frigole, Nick Pringle, Dean Miller, Noah DiEgidio, Jake Casciano, Hayden Ladeceur, Patrick Ioanidis, Michelle Maecker, Sarah Robert, Emily Crowley, Kelsey Synder, Sam Macsai, Lauren Frasca, Kara Latham, Sophia Al-Kayed, Kaitlyn Pressley, Genny Frick, Terin Hultink, Madi Crowe-O’Brien and Hailey Gawel.
Confirmed players for the Team Blue girls squad are: Parker Midgley and Breanna Habinski from Greater Fort Erie; Julia Thies, Terin Hultink and Julie Buist from Smithville Christian; Sam Duncan from Notre Dame; Macy Hellwig and Emily Slota from Denis Morris; Mia DiPasquale from Blessed Trinity; Erica VanSoelen from Heritage Christian; Sarah Mateus-Jimenez from Sir Winston Churchill; Angeline Galati from Saint Paul; Sydney MacNeil from St. Francis; Sarah O’Rourke from Holy Cross; and, Sommer Newton from E.L. Crossley.

Myer; Maia MacLean from Saint Paul; and, Kennedy Saxton from Centennial.
