The Niagara IceDogs made a pair of moves Tuesday at the Ontario Hockey League trade deadline.
The IceDogs picked up winger Alex Assadourian from the Sudbury Wolves and dealt forward Nolan Dann to the Flint Firebirds.
To acquire Assadourian, the Wolves second-round selection in the 2021 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, the IceDogs surrendered two draft picks, a second-round selection in 2026 (Windsor) and third-round pick in 2026 (Sault Ste. Marie).
Assadourian is Stouffville native is in his second OHL season with 98 regular season games under his belt. The 2005-born forward has 11 goals, 25 assists and 36 points in his career, including three goals and nine points in 36 games this season. He is also a plus-5. The 5-foot-8, 168-pound left-winger brings speed and is known as a strong playmaker.
The return for Dann was impressive: a second-round pick in 2024 (Guelph), a third in 2023 (Peterborough), a third in 2026 (Flint), a fourth in 2024 (Flint), a fourth in 2025 (Flint) and a fourth in 2026 (Flint).
Drafted in the fourth round in 2019 by the Sarnia Sting, Dann is currently playing in his second season and is just two games away from his 100th OHL game. The IceDogs acquired Dann in a trade with the Sarnia Sting during the off-season for three picks: a second-round selection in 2023 (Kitchener), a second in 2025 (Oshawa) and a fifth in 2026 (Niagara). The 2003-born forward has six goals and 10 assists this year.
Under owner/general manager Darren DeDobbelaer, the IceDogs have been part of 23 transactions involving 28 players and up to 64 draft picks.
The organization seems set up well for the future with a good stockpile of picks over the next two seasons.
