Nick Isaacson replied for the Steelheads.
The IceDogs jumped out to a 2-1 lead after one before Sopa’s second goal at the 13:50 mark of the second period gave Niagara a two-goal cushion.
There was no scoring in the third period.
Niagara netminder Tucker Tynan, who performed well in relief of injured starter Christian Sbaraglia Thursday, turned in another good effort with 38 saves.
“It was a great team win tonight,” IceDogs coach Billy Burke said. “The guys took pride in having a lead in the third and everyone bought in and sacrificed for each other.
“Tucker Tynan was great in his first OHL start. Obviously lots for us to clean up but a good start so far.”
The IceDogs went 0-for-5 on the power play while the Steelheads were scoreless in four opportunities with the man advantage.
Niagara is now off until Thursday when they host the Oshawa Generals.
