PORT’S TOP ATHLETES
Brayden Tuck and Sheridan Sneek were named Port Colborne High School’s athletes of the month for December.
Tuck, an honour roll student, helped lead the junior boys basketball team to a 3-0 start. His coach, Ron Richardson, describes the Grade 9 student as a focused, hardworking and versatile player.
“He can run the offence playing point guard, but he also plays smothering defence and is an excellent rebounder,” Robinson said. “ He can play any position and will do anything that is asked of him. Brayden leads by example and will be one of the core members of the PCHS basketball program in the coming years.”
Sneek, a Grade 9 student, plays volleyball for Port and is a key member of the school’s swim team.
She has consistently out-swam her competitors in mini meets and Southern Ontario Secondary Schools Association qualifiers. She earned firsts in the 50-metre butterfly and 100-metre individual medley and was second in the 50-metre freestyle. She also helped her relay team finish fourth.
Volleyball coach Julie Wiersma describes Sheridan as a force in the middle.
“She dominates at the net as a blocker and is a team player,” Wiersma said.
