The Thorold Badminton Club is looking for players for the remainder of the 2018-19 season.
The club plays every Monday and Friday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Richmond Street School in Thorold.

RANGERS TAKE TWO
The Niagara Rangers under-19 girls basketball team went unbeaten in recent Ontario Basketball League play, defeating Mississauga 63-36 and Etobicoke 62-36.
Leading the way against Mississauga with points and five or more of a stat were: Mac Schroeder (Eden), 11 points and five rebounds; Beth DeBoer (Eden), 11 points and five rebounds; Josee Severin (Saint Paul), 10 points; Maddie Caughill (Holy Cross), eight points and five rebounds; Emily Bonisteel (E.L. Crossley), eight points; Tess Puchalski, (E.L. Crossley), eight points, seven steals and five rebounds; Rosie Tait (A.N. Myer), four points and five rebounds; Logan Brown (Holy Cross), two points; and, Maddie Coleman (Port Colborne), one point and six rebounds.
Getting on the stat sheet versus Etobicoke were: Schroeder, 12 points; DeBoer, 11 points; Coleman, eight points and six rebounds; Brown, eight points; Bonisteel, seven points and seven rebounds, Tait, six points and six rebounds; Severin and Caughill, four points; and, Puchalski, two points and six rebounds.
SPALDING AND CEBL INK DEAL
Spalding and the Canadian Elite Basketball League have signed a three-year agreement that makes Spalding the official ball of the league.
“We are very pleased to welcome the iconic Spalding brand to our family of partners,” CEBL CEO Mike Morreale said.
The league, which includes the Niagara River Lions, begins play in May.

The Welland Telus Tigers major peewee A hockey team ran its unbeaten streak in Niagara District league play to 17 games with a 6-1 victory over Port Colborne.
Kaleb Seguin and Quinten Hemauer each scored two for Welland and Mitchell Tomaino and Nicolas DiPietro added singles. Landen Gravelle scored for Port Colborne.
The Tigers were coming off a successful weekend in Port Huron, Mich., which saw them reach the quarter-finals of the International Silver Stick Finals. Welland scored five unanswered third period goals to upset the Springfield Rifles in its opening game, with Seguin accounting for two and singles from Tomaino, DiPietro and Hemauer. Welland then defeated Wissahickton 5-3 with DiPietro and Carter Kipp each netting a pair and Seguin rounding out the offence. Bryson Farr recorded the shutout as Welland defeated Centre Wellington 4-0 on goals from DiPietro, Preston Wainwright, Simon Guglielmi and Seguin.
Unfortunately Welland was on the wrong side of a 7-4 result in the quarter-finals, bowing out to a strong Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., team. Hemauer scored twice and DiPietro and Kipp once.

The Welland Niagara Street Pharmacy/Gene’s Skate Sharpening major atom A hockey team ran its undefeated streak in league play to games by defeating Port Colborne 6-2 and Thorold 6-0.
Brennen Hagar recorded a hat trick and Jonah Bello, Colby Franchetti and Tanner Cutler each scored once in the win over Port Colborne. Brayden Dennis and Taylor Ker replied for the Sailors.
Hagar, Townes Bestward, Julian Belcastro, Cutler, Matteo Mete and Mason Ristos scored versus Thorold with Riley Caron notching his sixth shutout of the season.
THREE WINS FOR PEEWEES
The Welland 91.7 Giant FM Country 89.1 FM Tigers minor peewee hockey team was 3-0 in recent action.
The Tigers edged the home West Lincoln Wrath 3-2 on goals by Tyler Ray, Jordan Raso, and Ryan Reeves.
In a 7-2 victory over Pelham, Blake Turner had two goals with singles going to Zach Jansen, Raso, Josh Lamb, Alex Mcquillan, and Jaxon Vanderlip.
In a 5-2 victory over the Niagara-on-the-Lake Wolves, Ray, Turner, Lamb, Jansen and Reeves scored goals.
TIGERS DOUBLE FALCONS
Kalen Sumbler scored twice and added an assist to power the Welland Youngs Insurance Tigers minor atom hockey team to a 4-3 victory over the Garden City Falcons.
Blake Marton and Lucas Homan also scored for Welland.
In a 7-0 victory over Niagara-on-the-Lake, Marton had a hat trick, Jaxson Beck scored twice and Joseph Boychuk and Lucas Homan also scored. Contributing by way of assist and non-stop determination were Kyle Zenga, Maxx Pals, Cade Bovine, Matteo Valleriani and Ausin Bovine. Kaleb Bello recorded his third shutout of the season and defence man Cole McCarthy played well.
In a 9-0 win over Niagara Falls: Owyn Fewkes earned his third shutout of the season; Marton had a hat trick; and, singles were netted by Homan, Maxx Pals, Beck, Ethan Fortier, Bovine and Boychuk.
NOVICE TIGERS TAKE THREE
The Welland Mike Knapp Ford novice A hockey team was 3-0 in recent action.
Welland beat Niagara Falls 5-1 with Mackenzie Welychka scoring twice and single goals being netted by Dylan Wood, Sebastien Boucher and Blake Hudak. In net for the win was Jackson Macleod.
In a 6-0 victory over Grimsby, Wood scored twice and singles were scored by Mackenzie Welychka, Liam Seguin, Hudak and Ryan Rousseau. Brady Matte recorded the shutout.
Welland also beat Port Colborne 2-1 on two goals by Jordan Hotham. MacLeod picked up the win in goal.
