Minor atom As wins two
The Welland Shadow Auto Tigers minor atom A hockey team improved to 21-3-1 in divisional play with wins over West Niagara and Niagara Falls.
The victories vaulted the Tigers into first place over the Dunnville Mudcats, whom they have two remaining games against.
Against West Niagara Flying Aces, Jackson Gallagher-Temple got the win in net and the Tigers’ offence was led by: Jordan Hotham (2-1-3), Ethan Rousseau, Dylan Wood and Liam Seguin with a goal and an assist; Blake Hudak with a goal; and, Antonio Mete and Basil Garofalo with single assists.
In a 7-2 win over the Niagara Falls Flyers: Thomas Russell got the win in net; Hotham had two goals and assist; Wood scored twice; Ethan Rousseau had a goal and an assist; and, Brayden Farr and Seguin each scored once.
Major peewees quadruple Falls
Josh Lamb scored twice and Noah Bovine and Ryan Reeves also bulged the twine as the Welland Telus Tigers defeated Niagara Falls 4-1 in major peewee A action at the Gale Centre on Sunday evening.
Zachary Gagnon scored for Niagara Falls.
In a 1-0 loss, to Thorold, Connor Bolibruck scored for Thorold with assists to Lincoln Marsh-Hall and Nicholas Sattarzadeh picked up his third shutout of the season as Thorold improved to 18-4-2.
Welland and Thorold will host their respective OMHA playdown qualifying tournaments during the Jan. 31 to Feb. 2 weekend.
Minor peewees beat Stoney Creek
The Welland Tigers 91.7 Giant FM/Country 89 Tigers defeated Stoney Creek 5-1 in minor peewee A divisional play.
Henry Allen opened the scoring for Stoney Creek with an assist from Hayden Purnell.
Scoring for Welland were Colby Franchetti with a pair and Matteo Mete, Tanner Cutler and Tyler Laszlo with single scores.
Welland improved to 21-0-3 in league play with the win.
