The Niagara JUEL, JUEL Prep and JUEL Academy squads have been chosen for the upcoming season.
Selected to the JUEL roster are: Shorleigh Burrows and Kate DeVries from Eden; Hannah Braye from Westlane; Alena Tepsic from Saltfleet; Emma Vendittelli from A.N. Myer; Lita Sutor from Blessed Trinity; Keira Teske from Governor Simcoe; Diana Kastenka from Bishop Ryan; Ava Briggs from Notre Dame; Shania Hintenberger from Lakeshore Catholic; Grace MacDonald from St. John Henry Newman; and, Reese Bolibruck from West Niagara.
Si Khounviseth is the head coach and his assistants are Beth Howlett, Howie Howlett, Rob Dunn and Kendel Dunn.
“The coaches and I are very excited about our second season. We have added more talent, we have returning players and we as coaches learned a lot about the league last year,” Khounviseth said. “The players have trained hard all summer and based on the tryouts and initial meetings with players, we believe this will be a talented and cohesive group that wants to compete the right way and win. We are not a big team this year and will need to rely on our athleticism. But we certainly have the talent and athletic ability to play more up-tempo and be a great defensive team.”
Chosen to the JUEL Prep roster are: Lila Rodrique from Centennial; Rylan White from Bishop Tonnos; Jaylen Stienstra, Teagan Fraser and Brooklyn Turner from Blessed Trinity; Ava Walker and Elizabeth Cook from A.N. Myer; Kate Kolbinson from Port Colborne High School; Camilla Moscato from Notre Dame; Talia Hultink from Smithville Christian; Kate Ferras from Assumption College; and, Addison Torigian from Sir Winston Churchill.
Head coach Chris Moscato, who guided the team to a bronze medal last year, is assisted by Kevin Stienstra and Melanie Sodka.
“The Niagara JUEL Prep team will be a strong team with seven returning players and a group of strong new players,” Chris Moscato said. “The team is an all-Grade 10 team and is looking to improve on a very strong season from last year.”
Picked for the first year of the JUEL Academy team are Milena Lucchetta, Giuliana DiMarcantonio, Evie Haine, Tessa Bailey, Grace Redmond, Olivia Joy Sabourin, Isabella Deliyannis, Brooklyn Zarowny, Olivia Knack, Vlaencia Sorgini, Makayla Scott-Bush, Shaunessey Burrows and Gabrielle Kissi.
Head coach Charles Kissi will be assisted by Chloe Peters and Loris Lucchetta.
“I’m excited to continue to work with this young group of talented athletes with the focus on maximizing their potential as they continue to grow and learn as players and people,” Charles Kissi said.
