PIAZZA MISSES CUT
Niagara native Nolan Piazza fired rounds of 82 and 70 at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio, to miss the cut at the U.S. Junior Amateur.
The 2018 Ontario junior boys champion missed the cut by only two strokes. The scratch handicapper at Cherry Hill tied for first at a qualifier for the event at the Carlisle Country Club in Pennsylvania.
D’ANGELO TIES FOR EIGHTH
Lookout Point member Freddy D’Angelo shot rounds of 79, 69, 69 and 74 at the Tangle Creek Golf and County Club in Thornton to tie for eighth at the Ontario Junior Boys Golf Championship.
The Notre Dane student finished 10 shots out of the lead.
The only other local to make the cut was Lookout Point’s Luke DelGobbo (76, 73, 72, 76). He tied for 22nd.
BURKE TIES FOR 15TH
Lookout Point’s Kayla Burke carded rounds of 78, 79, 77 and 76 at the Galt Country Club in Cambridge to tie for 15th at the Ontario Junior Girls Golf Championship.
The Centennial graduate is heading to Arkansas State this fall on a golf scholarship.
The only other local to make the cut was Grand Niagara’s Cindy Zhou (81, 86, 77, 76). She finished alone in 26th place.
