Junior hockey roundup: IceDogs tied for first; Junior B wrap-up

The Niagara IceDogs are tied for top spot in the Central Division of the Eastern Conference of the Ontario Hockey League.
The IceDogs defeated the North Bay Battalion 5-2 Saturday at home to improve to 18-7-4-1 and are now 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. The IceDogs and Sudbury Wolves both have 40 points through 29 games to lead the division.
Kirill Maksimov paced Niagara with a pair of goals while Elijah Roberts, Matthew Philip and Jason Robertson added singles. Ben Jones chipped in with a pair of assists.
Stephen Dhillon made 29 saves in net for the win.
Nick King and Matthew Struthers replied for the Battalion.
The IceDogs are home to Hamilton Thursday and Oshawa Saturday sandwiched around a trip to London Friday.
JUNIOR B
Christian Girhiny scored early in overtime to give the St. Catharines Falcons a 4-3 victory over the visiting Fort Erie Meteors in Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League action Friday at Jack Gatecliff Arena.
Jaleel Adams, Carson Edwardson and Noah Blakely also scored for the Falcons, who improved to 19-3-0-2.
Cail Cirillo, Anthony Gigliotti and Noah Bourdon scored for the Meteors, who dropped to 8-17-0-2.
The Falcons are in Thorold Thursday and home to Lockport Friday.
CANUCKS 6 JUNIOR CANADIANS 2
Justin Randhawa netted three goals to pace the Niagara Falls Canucks past the visiting Welland Junior Canadians Friday at the Gale Centre.
Justin Kyle, Matthew Riva and David D’Agostino also scored for the Canucks, who improved to 23-3-0-1.
PANTHERS 4 METEORS 2
Noah Caperchione netted a pair of goals to pace the Pelham Panthers past the Fort Erie Meteors Saturday at the Leisureplex.
Thomas Young and Michael Marcheson also scored for Pelham.
Brannon Butler and Marco Lariccia replied for the Meteors.
The Panthers also topped Lockport 5-1 Sunday afternoon at home.
Young netted a pair of goals while Marcheson, Nathan Ellis and Dylan Bigger also scored.
The Panthers improved to 16-10-0-2 and sit in third place, one point ahead of Hamilton.
JUNIOR CANADIANS 2 KILTY B’S 1
Alex Vendette kicked out 53 shots to lead the Welland Junior Canadians past the visiting Hamilton Kilty B’s Sunday night in Welland.
Michael Arch and Kellen Rosenbaum scored for Welland, which improved to 7-17-0-2.
Tanner Bibby replied for the Kilty B’s.
