The Niagara Juel girls basketball team salvaged its weekend by recording a 51-45 victory over the Kingston Impact.
Niagara finished 1-3 overall in weekend play after falling 63-53 to the YNBA Avengers, 58-47 to the Durham Chameleons and 71-55 to Ottawa Elite.
Niagara recorded the win against Kingston by building quarter leads of 15-9, 24-19 and 38-30. Leading the way for Niagara on the stat sheet were Brookelyn Keltos (Sir Winston Churchill) with 10 points; Yemi Oladipo (Sir Winston Churchill) with nine points and nine rebounds; Joanna Smith (Holy Trinity Simcoe) with nine points and eight boards; Jamie Addy (Governor Simcoe) with seven points; Anna Deliyannis (Eden) with six points; and, Ava Stranges (Saint Paul) with five points.
In the game against the YNBA Avengers, Niagara played well in the first and last quarters but was outscored 40-18 in the middle periods. Leading the way for Niagara were: Keltos with 18 points; Oladipo with 12 points and five rebounds; Smith with nine points and six boards; Ava Stranges with seven points and eight rebounds; and Kaitlyn Brophy (E.L. Crossley) with five rebounds.
In the 58-47 loss to the Durham Chameleons Niagara trailed 53-28 after three quarters but made the game close with a strong fourth quarter. Top performers for Niagara were: Oladipo with 11 points and boards; Keltos with nine points; Stranges with seven points and seven rebounds; Smith with seven points and six rebounds; and, Deliyannis and Brophy with five points each.
Ottawa Elite built quarter leads of 23-15, 45-26 and 60-38 to record the victory over Niagara. Top performers for Niagara were: Oladipo with 16 points and eight rebounds; Stranges with 12 points; Keltos with 10 points; and, Smith with five points and six rebounds.

Niagara’s Juel Prep team went winless in weekend play, falling 66-37 to Ottawa Elite, 59-49 to Jump Thru Hoops and 69-52 to the Nepean Blue Devils
Ottawa built quarter leads of 14-10, 29-20 and 46-25 to record the win. Playing well for Niagara were: Emma Vendittelli (A.N, Myer) with 17 points; Keira Teske (Governor Simcoe) with seven points and eight rebounds; and, Rozlyn Ciocca (Saint Francis) and Lauryn Briggs (Notre Dame) with four points apiece.
Jump Thru Hoops grabbed a 27-12 lead after the first quarter. Niagara outscored their opponents 29-16 in the middle quarters but ran out of gas. Leading the way for Niagara were: Teske with 17 points and 11 rebounds; Vendittelli with 16 points and eight boards; Maggie Mannell (A.N. Myer) with four points and eight rebounds; and, Ciocca with four points.
Niagara led Nepean 19-17 after one quarter but trailed 37-32 and 54-38 after the second and third quarters. Playing well for Niagara were: Vendittelli with 24 points and seven rebounds; Teske with 21 points and 13 rebounds; and, Mannell with four points.
