Bantams take three straight
The Welland Buckner’s Source for Sports Tigers minor bantam A hockey team was unbeaten in recent action blanking Fort Erie 4-0, doubling Dunnville 2-1 and defeating Glancaster 4-0.
Scoring for Welland versus Fort Erie were: Kaleb Segion, two goals; Zachary Robichaud and Preston Wainwright, single goals; and, Quinten Hemauer, two assists. Brycen Farr recorded the shutout.
Mason Saxton and Quinten Hemauer scored as Welland improved to 4-1 with the win over Dunnville.
Nolan Hemauer netted a pair of goals and Wainwright notched singles versus Glancaster. Seguin had two assists and Farr recorded the shutout.
Major peewees .500 last week
The Welland Telus Tigers major peewee A hockey team went 1-1-1 last week, losing 2-1 to Stoney Creek, tying Garden City 3-3 and dumping Niagara Falls 8-0.
Tyler Ray recorded the lone Welland goal versus Stoney Creek.
Josh Lamb, Jordan Raso and Ray found the net for Welland against Garden City.
Against Niagara Falls, Ryan Reeves netted a pair of goals with Ray, Jaxon Vanderlip, Lamb, Raso, Dayton Flatt and Everett Hemauer each scoring single tallies. Lukas Biggar earned his third shutout as the team improved to 5-2-1 on the season.
Minor peewees unbeaten
The Welland 91.7 Giant FM/Country 89 Tigers minor peewee A hockey team as unbeaten last week, tying Dunnville 1-1 and tripling Garden City 3-1.
Colby Franchetti for Welland and Aaron Ruigrok for Dunnville traded goals as the two top teams in the Niagara District Peewee Belcot division squared off.
Julian Belcastro scored twice against Garden City and Miller Miotto also scoring, thanks to some great playmaking from Carson McComber. Jacob Jones accounted for the lone goal for Garden City.
Welland is now 6-0-2 in divisional play.
