NIAGARA GENERALS FOOTBALL
Niagara 42 Brantford 26
Ezekiel Langendoen contributed four touchdowns and four converts to power the Niagara Generals peewee football team to a 42-26 victory over the Brantford Bisons in Ontario Football League play.
Also contributing big games for Niagara were: Cameron Macrae with a major and four sacks; Nicholas McKinnon with a touchdown; Lucas Nicol and Joey Labuik with fumble recoveries; and, quarterback Brett Wall had a great game in a blocking role.
“My O-line held their blocks, my D-line clogged the holes, we shut down their run with our strong linebackers and safeties, and our coverage killed their pass game,” Generals head coach Bruce Macrae said. “I could not have asked for a better performance from our boys in our 42 to 26 win.”
Brantford 24 Niagara 8
The Niagara Generals bantams football team entered its playoff game against the Brantford Bisons as clear underdogs and aside from a couple of quick scores, Niagara’s defence held the high-scoring Bisons offence to just three touchdowns.
Unfortunately, Niagara’s offence was able to get anything going other than a rushing major by Jamie Otis-Heyward. Two deep drives by the Generals were stalled inside the Bisons’ 10-yard line.
“My coaches and I are very proud of how our team played this year. They played as a team and a brotherhood,” head coach Jim Storin said. “With a small bench, our boys fought very hard and did not allow Brantford to just push them around.”
He was proud if his team’s effort.
“Winning isn’t always measured by the scoreboard,” Storin said. “These boys are all winners in my books.”
The Bisons move on to the Tier 2 championship game.
