Austin MacRae scored two touchdowns to power the Niagara Generals peewee football team to a 12-6 victory over the Waterloo Predators.
“I cannot say more about how well our defence did,” coach Bruce MacRae said. “They were one unit making the stop time after time. I lost count of the amount of times Nathan Vander Meer got into the backfield and made the stop.”
The Generals will hit the road Saturday to play the Brantford Bisons in the semifinals.

PARSONS LOSES FIRST MATCH
Brock Wrestling Club member Jade Parsons lost 10-3 to China’s Qi Zhang in her opening match at the senior world wrestling championships in Budapest, Hungary.
According to the Wrestling Canada website, the 27-year-old Orilia native was the aggressor for the majority of the match, but was outmaneuvered in the groundwork by Zhang.
“It was disappointing,” Parsons said. “I didn’t really let the nerves get to me, it was just won on my lack of ground defence. I’ve got to work on wrestling defensive wrestlers. It’s frustrating when my opponent is extremely defensive.”
Zhang made it to the semifinals for losing and was in contention for a bronze medal.
